  1. Dear Scout,
We are saddened to see your desperate state while your Mommy is away! No one to comb the ice from your fur, feeling upside down on luxury couches, trying to find a comfortable position without your mother's lap, and keeping her bed warm for her. We can only offer our condolences at your sadness during this time of absense! Fret not, brave and loyal soul, Lauren has vowed to feed you, and hopefully Aisling will continue to offer love and support! We love you Scout! Praying for your most treasured person to return home soon!

The Cubero's - especially Sydney - who is the greatest animal lover of all!!!!!

  2. Dearest Scooter,
With all due respect, you are always somewhat of a mess-no matter who is or isn't around.

I do hope your mama comes home soon though so you can get back to your crazy old self.

  5. Hi Susie - hope you're home and feeling better. I got knocked around pretty significantly from my last chemo on Mar 10, so I'm just now picking myself up, dusting myself off and trying to get caught up. Today is my first day back in the office this week - I suck! But I've been coughing and throwing up at the same time, and I REALLY like my wastebasket here at work. I took a solemn vow to keep it puke-free. I carry a 5 quart ice cream bucket with me for kamikaze tummy attacks. :)Hope you got all buffed up and are ready to to reclaim your place in Troop Tumor Assasin - Take good care of yourself - praying for sunshine!

  6. Kaysey, thanking you for all your comments. Today's the first day I've felt up to checking my blog. I know your chemo schedule is ahead of mine and I'm so sorry to hear that you're so sick of it. I know how you're feeling though...I carry a plastic grocery bag with me in my purse everywhere I go (let's hope I never grab one with holes in it!). Did you do radiation? And what is your e-mail address???

  7. Hi Susie - you can email me at break.time@hotmail.com

Glad we're getting our mojos back in time to enjoy good weather - nothing worse than sitting around inside in your jammies when the outside world is full of sunshine! Feels like such a waste!

    Love, Kaysey

  8. And yep - I did 22 out of 32 radiation sessions in September when I was on Cisplatin and Etoposide - then had an issue with chest pain and got an intermediate scan that showed new tumors - so they kicked me out. One sure way to dodge additional rediation is to grow new tumors in the same spot they're radiating. Kind of freaks them out. But the radiation did turn out to be kind of good - I got a terrible case of esophagitis also, but I had 2 tumors grow directly in my windpipe in October - they didn't show up on any scans - seriously couldn't breathe for almost 6 weeks - ended up at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Illinois as a 6th opinion and they found them - cut them out and biopsied them and turns out they had no cancer in them because the residual radiation hangs around for several months. So I guess you can grow new tumors, but the residual radiation kills the cancer in them. That was good! I ended up on Abraxane after having my original biopsy assayed in December. No one was able to tell what kind of NSCLC I have, so they took one of my tumors and subjected it to all different kinds of chemo - the one it hated the most is the one we chose. Abraxane is a taxol, like taxotere - not approved for lung cancer yet, only metastatic breast cancer - so you can imagine the conversations I have with my insurance company - I say my lungs are geographically close to my breasts so it should count - they think not. But it's finally working - my primary tumor is down from 6.5 cm to .8 mm - the others are gone. I have 2 rogue nodules that come and go, but otherwise my scans are great. Soooooo grateful. Everything was concentrated in my right lung - had some fluid activity in my lymph area, so that's why they called me a IIIB - don't care what they call my stage as long as they refer to it in the PAST TENSE. Stupid tumors.
